Nobody really knows since it was only announced today. I'm just going to upgrade as normal
What about the transition away from Hal, is there anything special there, or just uninstall and remove from rc.local?

I've been running the release candidate, and haven't had any real trouble. You may need to keep Hal onboard if you're running anything else that depends on it, but upower and udisk seem to run alongside Hal without anything weird happening.
This is the first time I've been on Arch for a KDE version upgrade. How long does it usually take for a new release to show up on the mirrors?

They'll probably be in the repos sometime tomorrow since they'll have to update [extra] rather than [kde-unstable]

Good to hear. I'm really looking forward to KDE 4.6

It's a good idea to backup ~/.kde4, just in case something happens.

Released KDE 4.6 in [extra]. I'll keep this open for KDE PIM 4.6 betas. Thanks for testing.

there is a dependece missing:
I have this error message:
precaución: no se pudo resolver "grantlee", una dependencia para "kdelibs"
Means that kdelibs need grantlee, but it isnt in repos.

Grantlee got uploaded to kde-unstable, not extra ... ?

what meens dependencies: "grantlee (virtual)"?

grantlee was forgotten. I just moved it to extra
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

the PKGBUILD for kdepimlibs-4.6.0 refers to a glibc-2.13.patch but the patch doesn't seem to have made it to SVN. (I'm trying to build my own binaries for 4.6 final using the Arch PKGBUILDs, that's why I happened to notice.)

Thanks Andrea - I see the patch now. But your latest SVN update for kdepimlibs is back to kde-unstable repo instead of extra. Gee, I don't complain much do I? LOL

heya,
Hmm, I'm trying to run an update, using the mirror http://mirrors.kernel.org, and I keep getting "Forbidden" errors. e.g.:
error: failed retrieving file 'kdelibs-4.6.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from mirrors.kernel.org : Forbidden
Is anybody else getting this? Any ideas on why this is?
Cheers,
Victor

It seems that soprano 2.5.63 has to be uploaded to [extra] to solve this bug https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=112438

@gun26
fixed.
@Jodell
Uploaded in [extra], sorry.

Hey there. I did the upgrade from KDE 4.5.5-1 to 4.6.0-1 and now I'm getting the following error messages in Dolphin as well as the Desktop Folder widget on my desktop:
Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_file'.
Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Error loading 'ko_desktop'.
I guess I have to change some permissions or something? But I can't find what or where...?
Thanks for your time!

Hey there. I did the upgrade from KDE 4.5.5-1 to 4.6.0-1 and now I'm getting the following error messages in Dolphin as well as the Desktop Folder widget on my desktop:
Please run:
sudo pacman -U --asdeps ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/x86_64/soprano-2.5.63-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
or
sudo pacman -U --asdeps ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686/soprano-2.5.63-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
to install soprano 2.5.63 which is needed by KDE 4.6 or wait for mirror sync

so far it is running great here on two laptops (after the soprano update), so thanks for the super fast (and working) packaging !
General question though - for those of us on intel hardware, is the explicit black listing of the laconz filter still needed like in KDE 4.5.x? I know there is a new option in KCM which mentions it, but I was not sure if that truly disabled it or not. Anyways, thanks for a great release!

Just updated to KDE SC 4.6. Can anyone get previews on folders to work? Previews of files work but I have several folders with pictures where the I usually can see previews of the pictures on the folder but now nothing. Everything is turned on in Dolphin etc.

Is there a reason why qt-4.7.1-4 is still in kde-unstable?

@bash - I've got three final SVN repo nits:
kdeadmin - syslog-path.patch is wrong, fails sha1sum and won't apply. Since it's a one liner, I easily created my own patch and built successfully.
kdesdk - fix-python2-path.patch and kdesdk-okteta.install both missing from SVN. I had them from previous builds so no problem for me.
kdeutils - spurious kdeutils-okteta.install in SVN.
That's all I've found - I've built all of 4.6 final and I'll probably run it for a few weeks until I get bored and resume building ProgDan's kde-snaphots.
@fettouhi - I'm not seeing image previews on folders either. That was a nice Dolphin feature - I hope they get it working again.
