I like very much what the XFCE devs did with the settings dialogues, making them open in the same window instead of a new one ala KDE. This way XFCE can be used much more comfortably in small screen devices like netbooks and makes more sense in general. Sadly it doesnt happen with all settings. The non core XFCE ones break the pattern. But its a very welcome improvement.

I think udev or ConsoleKit were messed with a long time ago for something, but I don't remember what/where...

Hi, had the same issues here, i know that wasn't the perfect solution, but fixed repartitioning the flash drive using gparted, was a single fat32 partition and paritioned again a as single fat32 parition.
The first three messages still are here, but the last one disappeared, and the drive mounts normally.

I enabled Testing and intstalled xfce4 and xfce4-goodies metapackages, but when I startxfce4 I only get a tiny floating panel which closes when I click on it.
When I try to start any xfce app, I get:

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/gio/modules/libexo-module-1.so: undefined symbol: g_desktop_app_info_lookup_get_type

Any ideas?
EDIT: exo was updated today, now everything works.

Since I updated xfce4 panel to 4.8.0 it isn't displayed anymore while using compiz as window manager.
Is this a known bug?

just about the worst time to lose the weather plugin. Is there any update on the progress of the broken plugins? Anyone use a good temporary alternative?

Any update on the progress of these panel apps?

I notice xfce4-mailwatch-plugin was last updated 29/01/11, but it still will not start for me. I get the following:

/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: error while loading shared libraries: libxfce4panel.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xfce4-panel-Message: Plugin mailwatch-5 has been automatically restarted after crash.
/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: error while loading shared libraries: libxfce4panel.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Creating a link to libxfce4panel-1.0.so.3.0.0 called libxfce4panel.so.1 now generates the following:

/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin: undefined symbol: xfce_external_panel_plugin_new
xfce4-panel-Message: Plugin mailwatch-6 has been automatically restarted after crash.

The mailwatch plugin works fine here. make sure you use all the packages from the extra repo and nothing from AUR or custom repos.
