i've found the perfect rss feed news ticker in aur.
it's called simply, "news".
alas, i have not yet fathomed how to integrate it with xmonad.
i tried merely suplanting tint2, for news, in the vane hope that that would be sufficient, to have it as a toggle'able panel...
not so simple as news isnt EWMH compliant i presume.
... right now all i have left is endless chin rubbing and head scratching.
any xmonader's out there interested?
[edit~oops, kinda forgot i'd already made this one late night.]

anyone know of a way to have two avoidstruts with XMonad.Hooks.ManageDocks?
or do i need to use XMonad.Layout.Gaps if i want a second one for news?

You shouldn’t neet two avoidStruts hooks. As long as your news bar registers itself as a dock, your single avoidStruts manage hook should take care of it.
One way to actually “integrate” it is to simply start it in your ~/.xinitrc. As long as you don’t want to display any XMonad state changes (such as visible desktops, the current layout, window title etc.) in your news ticker bar, this should work.
