Wifi Speed

Hello Guys,

I was just wondering what kind of speed you are able to achieve on your LAN, when connected with your WIFI (g) card ?
I did a test with netio  and I am barely above 1 MByte per second, which seems really far away from the theoretical value of the of the Wifi g (54mbps / 6.75 MBytes)

Thanks,

Re: Wifi Speed

I see about 2.65 MiB/s when a single wireless client communicates with a wired PC; half that when two wireless clients are communicating between themselves. Distance from the router is ~2m and the signal strength appears to be pretty good (>80%).

So yeah, wireless – or at least 802.11g – sucks. tongue

Re: Wifi Speed

My router is custom built, I have AP using hostapd with some D-Link card (RaLink RT2561/RT61 rev B 802.11g). I have 2.5-2.6MB tops, no more. That varies depending where in apartment I am, of course.
Wifi sux in terms of speed, for speed I have ethernet, currently 100mbps, but soon it will be 1G I hope smile

Re: Wifi Speed

I have terrible wireless speed-performance on my laptop when running on battery, this is related to laptop-mode which I still have to figure out how to configure ... It gives full signal strength, sometimes 1 meter from the access point, and still poor performance.
