Hi!
I tryed Arch with Openbox 3 out and I have to say: really cool BUT the real problem is the video driver . I have an Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5730 and the driver support for the graka is ... bad ?
So the Question is ... will there be a better support ever for Arch?
So far Arch is my fav. Distro but this little thing makes it worse ....
If there is no future for ATI on Arch I will move away.
So the 2. Question is what Distro I take? Any Suggestions?
Edit: I prefer KDE over Gnome

Please use descriptive titles for subject.
no video drivers are made specifically for a particular distro. If you find that the video driver works well for distro X, it will work for all linux distros (given all other things are same) provided you are willing to make the effort.
If you have decided to move away from Arch, have a look at Ubuntu.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

And why is the support for ATI so bad for Arch? I tryed out Ubuntu just before video works fine here (why?)... and i prefer a little bit more 'lightweighter' distro.

The support for the card is fine in Arch: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ati
The difference between the distros is that in Arch you are expected to set things yourself. If you are uncomfortable with that approach, you will struggle with Arch...
And, as you have already been asked, please change the title of your thread by editing your first post.

Catalyst should work mostly fine until xorg-server 1.10 hits the repos, then you might have to wait for the next ubuntu release to get support for it, also 2d should work with the free driver without any problems.
Btw ATI is dead and gone. AMD discontinued the ATI brandname.

You are a bad boy today. It should work with one of this old versions of Xorg, no? Remains the kernel support..

Changing the distro won't help. Catalyst is catalyst no matter what distro you are on.
@JokerBoy
It really is true that the support for xorg versions in catalyst is tied up with the ubuntu release cycle.
Catalyst <= 10.10 and the support for xorg-server 1.9 is just one example of the numerous times where support for new versions were not added until there was a new ubuntu release. (not to mention the early patches that ubuntu, as the only distro, got from amd)

Please learn to do your own research, that's one of the basic expectations the community places on you. The first thing you can do is read the wiki on the subject, the second thing is to search these forums for 'catalyst' or 'ati' and reading whatever sounds applicable.
Once you've done that I'm sure you'll realize that there was no need to ask the above question in the first place.
