Ath5k - Arch 64bit - Wifi not working.......

So, I have a friend with a Compaq CQ-60 that ran Ubuntu for a long time..
his kid broke the screen so I ordered him one and replaced it...

it had been a terribly long time since any updates...so once I got it assembled..I updated it...

and the driver for the wireless was all messed up...so after a few lame attempts I decided to kill Ubuntu
and give him a nice fast Arch 64bit install....

well, the driver sucks on Arch too!

I've put about 20 hours into reading posts and tinkering with everything from ndiswrapper (which crashed a ton of drivers)
to rfkill, ath5k, ath9k, blacklists, madwifi... nothing seemed to work....at all

so I made a little headway.... "ath5k" in the Modules array in rc.conf
all the blacklists that are listed in the Arch Wiki for ath5k wireless....
The LED for the wireless card turns blue (as it should) when the module loads....

...theres a line in rc.conf that looks like this
wlan0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(wlan0 eth0)

not sure if thats Kosher for my setup or not......

When I boot I get an error when starting "Networks" about RFKill blocking something
but when I "sudo rfklill unblock all" it does nothing...

I have also temporarily disabled the security on my router,
as many posts have noted that they are having a hard time getting this Artheros 5001 to see WEP encrypted networks....

HEEEEEEEEEELLLPP!!!

anyone got anything?

ath5k

and rfkill unblock all....
