When you request for help, it is better to show the error log and what steps you took than just saying "a whole bunch of funny garbage collection...."

Running mkinitcpio dry run with non-root gives the following message:
ERROR: User does not have proper permissions to read superblocks, raid and filesystem modules are not detected
Sounds like some files are corrupted?
