Hello dear friends!
I'm from Sweden and have been using Debian for the past 8 years and figured that is was time to try something new. Of course Arch became my choice. Looking forward to get to know Arch and the forum.

Hello! I just installed Arch for the second time (first time was a couple years ago, didn't use it for that long) alongside Windows and OS X. Been a Windows power user, and recently got into programming, so I decided I should learn more about Linux and have a working distro. Found out about ArchBoot and got it running on my MacBookPro7,1 and have been chugging along, slowly getting features to work. Very excited to be a part of this community! 8)

Hello! I just came into the linux world almost 2 years ago thrugh a shitty online course (shame on my stupidity). I didin't learn much but found out later that everything I needes could be found online. I have been using fedora and ubuntu for the las 2 years as my main OS except for gaming and I have never missed windows for everything else. I learned bash scripting (a little) and now I'm trying to learn python. A good friend of mine talked to me about Arch a year ago, and I filnally decided to try it on my laptop 2 weeks ago. I found it brilliant. It's not only the best documented distro (most of the forums info is pretty much up to date (that doens't happen in ubuntu at all) but it really helps me understand how the OS is working and that helps me to leran a lot. I'm now going to install it on my main Desktop, thus becoming offically an Arch user I'm very excited.
I must say I also love Pacman and the AUR, it is brilliant the way it works and the well implemented everything is. Thanks for developing a really stable and enjoyable OS!

Hey everybody! I have been a long-time user of Ubuntu, and got a little bored with how easy everything is in Ubuntu. Plus lately I haven't been having terribly good luck with it, and ended up needing to tweak it anyway, so I decided to look elsewhere.
First on my list was Debian itself, which was very nice and I really enjoyed it but a lot of the packages in Debian were much older than what I was used to. Upgrading to Sid wasn't the cleanest (probably my fault). While I was using Debian I was actually using Crunchbang (which is now based on Debian, not Ubuntu).
So, I tried Archbang. It's quite a differrence coming from Ubuntu to Arch. I like it so far. Definitely a lot more configuration to do, but I do like to tinker, so this might be right up my alley. Plus if it turns out to be stable I might stick with Arch. The only problem I can think of now is a long-time Linux issue for me, in that I get tearing in video playback (I have an nVidia GTX260). In Ubuntu if I was using Unity I had no tearing at all, but every other window manager I have tried gives me tearing. Hopefully there's a fix. I'm using Nouveau right now, but the nVidia driver also did it in the past.
Anyway not enough to dissuade me, I still really enjoy it!

Hey all! I'm coming to Arch from the Mac/BSD world (my current Arch box is a former Hackintosh, and I've owned many Macs in the past) and I'm excited to learn more about Linux. I must admit I've already benefited from the wealth of knowledge the Arch community has provided via the wiki, and I'm looking forward to hopefully contributing, too.

Hello world! (arch world community that is)
I've always been attracted to these build it yourself style distros, and finally went for it. I must say, like many other things in life, what you build and do for yourself is often much more rewarding than things you buy or receive in a box. Building my arch system was exactly that ( it may not have been completely from scratch (or source) but i'll try that for sure sometime ). I now have something I am excited to use, and can't help but feel somewhat proud.
I'm somewhat minimalist usually when it comes to my computer systems, so I went for openbox and tint2 for the times when clicking and looking at pictures isn't avoidable.
I'm a CSE ( computer science and engineering ) major at PSU, currently in OS 473, so having a distro that readily shows its insides is definitely a plus.
I enjoy programming/problem solving and am always looking for projects.

I know I just posted earlier today, but I feel like I rediscovered Arch today. Before then, I installed ArchBang on Friday night, and today I decided "you know, what's the point in running Arch if I don't have to go through the configuration myself?" (not to downplay Archbang, it's a real nice effort, and I liked it).
So I downloaded and installed Arch. And screwed my system up a few times, but it wasn't anything I couldn't fix due to the absolutely awesome documentation in the OS and on the Wiki. Even though it's more manual I feel like it's easier to do things in Arch than in any other OS I have used.
About 9 and a half hours later, and I have Arch configured just like I want it! I am very impressed. It's also very cool to get the feeling that it's something you had to configure, unlike Ubuntu, Windows, and Mac OS where all the hard stuff is done for you.

Hello everyone! I've used (in order): gOS, OpenSuse, Ubuntu, Sabayon, Debian, and now finally Arch, which I have to say, I love. It really reminds me of OpenBSD for some reason.

Hello Archers!
I'm a new Arch user, although quite familiar with Linux since the day Fedora Core first came out.
I've dabbled in RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo, and FreeBSD in the meantime (not necessarily in that order).
I've been reading nothing but good reviews re: Arch Linux, so naturally my curiosity is piqued... and here I am installing Arch Linux for the very first time in my life
Please don't be too harsh on this n00b
(As an aside, been perusing the forum/BBS for several weeks, and I can see that this is a friendly environment. I hope I can experience your friendliness -- and be friendly also in return)
Yay!

Hello world!
I've been trying to use Linux almost exclusively for nearly five months, Arch for about the last two. I'm a grad student trying to get my PhD in engineering. I'm currently trying to get my sweet Logitech Illuminated Keyboard working with Arch, which is apparently a bit of a pain for my configuration.
Cheers!

What problems are you encountering? Mine worked right off the bat with no configuration, although granted the media keys do not work. Is that what you mean? Gotta say though I love the Logitech keyboard and I love Arch lol.

Hey gang,
I'm relatively new to Arch, I've toyed with it on and off for the past year+. What I love about Arch? The simplicity and the fact that the config files that are both coherent and easy to work within. Since I'm new to the *nix environment the thing that stresses me out the most is getting my ugly Broadcom 4312 working. I hate you Broadcom.
Thanks for the great project everyone here's apart of and hopefully I'll be able to contribute something.

Hi everyone,
I'm Leonardo from Rome (aka leophys). I began using linux by (sic) Ubuntu, but after sometime a friend of mine suggested to try Arch and...wow. Here I am.
I used it for a year on my former laptop (hp dv3), but about 3 weeks ago a nice guy (I don't know who) decided to steal it...WTF
So here I'm, trying to install Arch on my new Macbook Pro 8,1 (it's driving me mad, but I will try to open a topic about that in the right section).
Greetings Leo
P.S.: in this case I had to ask my friend to register me to this forum because I'm still not able to run arch. I don't understand the meaning of the question in the registration form.
