okay but is whats your computer architecture, 32 or 64? and the flash? this may be important, thats why i ask

ok uninstall the flashplugin that you got, and download this:
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs … 710.tar.gz
it's the preview for native 64bit flash support, and go to either /opt/chromium-browser or /usr/lib/chromium, wherever it's installed but its one of those two, and create a "plugins" folder inside it, extract the archive i gave you, and put it inside the plugins folder. restart chrome and youll have native 64bit flash with youtube working perfectly(hopefully)
tell me how it goes, this is currently my setup and it's flawless

no you don't need to use the one from the adobe website. Just try and see if the flashplugin-prerelease from AUR works for you.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

flashplugin-prerelease works fine..i can see flash videos in fulscreen but can't see subtitles

now that's a different problem - the answer to which i don't know off hand, but i do remember seeing a thread about sub-titles. Search the forums, you will probably find it and see if those threads offer a solution.

Similar problem here. I have a 64 bit system (and Intel graphics). If I use the 32 bit flash player the performance in fullscreeen mode is abysmal. If I switch to the 64 bit flash (flashplugin-prerelease from AUR) the performance is fine, but exiting fullscreen mode crashes the whole desktop leaving strange problems that force me to reboot.
Anyone has a clue about how to solve one (performance on 32 bit flash) or the other problem (crashes on 64 bit flash)?
No problems with either on normal (non-fullscreen) mode.

Disabling hardware acceleration (right click on flash video --> settings) seems to have fixed a lot of flash issues lately (specifically youtube)

Yes, that fixed the crashing problem and the performance is still fine with the 64 bit player.
Thanks!

Worked for me too..thx

Well, after some more testing, I found out that if I disable hardware acceleration it does have some impact on performance. For example, when panning a video the playback was not smooth, while with hardware acceleration enabled it is smooth (try this video in fullscreen, for example).
So with the clue that it was related to graphics drivers, I updated the following packages from [Testing]: libdrm, xf86-video-intel, xf86-input-evdev, xf86-input-keyboard, xf86-input-synaptics, xorg-server-common, xorg-server. And voilà! Now it works fast (with hardware acceleration) and without crashing.
My laptop has a core i3 processor/graphics.
