I don't think gstreamer is able to play realmedia files, but I could be wrong. If you want xine back, simply install totem-xine.

I definetely was able to play rm files prior to update...
Also totem-xine conflicts with totem...?

With totem 1.0.3 we switched from xine to GStreamer. Since many people are complaining that GStreamer sucks and all those things, I made another package, totem-xine, which is basically the same program, but which uses the Xine libraries instead of the GStreamer libraries.

Thanks, JGC.
GStreamer is not capable of playing Realmedia files, at least not yet. I think you'll find it to have similar troubles with Quicktime files.
If you're really interested in playing movies and stuff, try MPlayer... It plays just about everything.

I'm using mplayer anyway....
I was just looking for a complete gnome solution for my wife using linux....
