Since the famous (infamous?) Xyne has decided to discontinue perl-xyne-arch for pacman>=3.5 and therefore all programs based on it, we will no longer have Powerpill for speedy -Syu'ing
. Although I'm sad, I'm sure Xyne has very good reasons, and look forward to his replacements, if and when he programs them.
Now, does anyone have suggestions for mirrored pacman downloads, like powerpill? It doesn't need to use too many mirrors, one server + one mirror would be enough. Anyone?

you could use packer, clyde, or yaourt in conjunction with Aria2 I suppose.

You can use aria2 with pacman without a wrapper as well. Instructions are available in the wiki for improving pacman performance. Also, apparently Xyne already has a replacement for reflector available.
I laugh, yet the joke is on me

I've just tried giving
XferCommand = /usr/bin/aria2c --allow-overwrite=true -c --file-allocation=none --log-level=error -m2 --max-connection-per-server=2 --max-file-not-found=5 --min-split-size=5M --no-conf --remote-time=true --summary-interval=60 -t5 -d / -o %o %ua go in /etc/pacman.conf but I'm not sure I'm getting any benifits, but I think I've got one package that needs downloading so that would be why.
I currently use clyde but I really wanted accelerated downloads. I usually only get like 150kB/s with pacman, would get 1.8MB/s with powerpill.

Closing for duplication.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
