Setting up a FTP server with a web user interface

Im trying to mount an easy to manage ftp server for my mates at work.
They know nothing (almost) about IT - and less even about *nix.....
My intention is to mount an FTP server which could be managed via some web interface: Somehow, they should be able to create, delete and modufy the ftp users, and i wonder if there is any software that does this. I know i can do this with webmin, but i would prefer something only focused in the FTP server.
Any ideas?

Thanks!! big_smile

Re: Setting up a FTP server with a web user interface

do you want to "mount a ftp server" such as a plain filesystem or do you want to manage the ftp server via a gui (webmin could handle this job or several guis for ftp servers: x_vsftpd, gadmin-proftpd ...)

Re: Setting up a FTP server with a web user interface

Well, my idea was to create a FTP server, and whatever management that should be done, do it via a Web UI.....
The thing is that i will set the server up, but the user management will be done by people that do not know anything about unix/linux/computers..... so, i would want to keep it as simple as a web user interface for doing such things:

Create a user
Administrate user's permissions
View server activity (who is uploading/downloading... etc)

Re: Setting up a FTP server with a web user interface

Have a look at Xyne's quickserve , doesn't mean to be a ftp server, but  plain easy to set ...

I second webmin as a more complete gui.
