Netcfg hidden wireless

I want to be able to switch between 2 hidden wireless networks without having to edit manually the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file (yes thats what i currently do:).
I installed netcfg in order to accomplish that, but i cannot connect to neither of the hidden networks available.
I tried the archwiki suggestion (PRE_UP='iwconfig ...') but it does not work.
By using netcfg with DEBUG="yes" (NETCFG_DEBUG="yes" netcfg mynetwork) i saw the wpa_supplicant.conf equivalent which is created by netcfg under /tmp

When i opened it i saw that there is no
scan_ssid=1 parameter which is needed in order to be able to connect to a hidden wireless (at least manually)..

How can i work around this issue?

Re: Netcfg hidden wireless

Use wpa-config or wpa-configsection profiles - see /etc/network.d/examples for details. Either of those profile types will allow you to specify the contents of your wpa config yourself, instead of relying on netcfg to do it.

Re: Netcfg hidden wireless

So, i should have 2 wpa_supplicant config files and activate them separately through a netcfg profile for each?
Isn't there a better way to do it (by better i mean more elegant - generic)? Like having 1 wpa_supplicant configuration file. Because i do not find it that useful to have 2 configs for 2 different networks... what if there are more?

Thanks for your interest.

Re: Netcfg hidden wireless

I made it work, thanks much for your reply.
This is how i did it, from /etc/network.d/examples/wireless-wpa-configsection:

CONNECTION='wireless'
DESCRIPTION='A simple WPA encrypted wireless connection'
INTERFACE=wlan0
SECURITY='wpa-configsection'
ESSID='myhiddenESSID'
IP='dhcp'
CONFIGSECTION='
     scan_ssid=1
     ssid="myhiddenESSID"
     proto=WPA
     psk="myhiddenESSIDcleantextpassphrase"'

Thank you very much again.
