GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

Hello,

I've just installed GNOME3 on my Thinkpad T412 everything is working great except the Touchpad. I think it is no longer recognized.

When I go to System -> mouse & touchpad I can see only mouse menu.

Here is my /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf :

Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "touchpad catchall"
        Driver "synaptics"
        MatchIsTouchpad "on"
        MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
        Option "TapButton1" "1"
        Option "TapButton2" "2"
        Option "TapButton3" "3"
        Option "VertTwoFingerScroll" "on"
        Option "HorizTwoFingerScroll" "on"
EndSection

And the command "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Synaptics" or "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Touchpad" return nothing

Thanks

Re: GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

from what i saw in the code, is using some libxi method to fetch the devices. if Xorg.0.log doesn't have any synaptics log then something is wrong on your system.

paste pacman -Q xorg-server xf86-input-synaptics

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

can you paste your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and dmesg somewhere?

Re: GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

from what i see the kernel doesn't detect your touchpad at all.

try to downgrade to kernel from core and do a dmesg | grep -i input with 2.6.37 and with 2.6.38 and compare them and them fill a bug against kernel26

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

So, now I understand nothing.
When I reboot on windows my trouchpad & trackpad doesn't work. I've tried fn+f8 nothing happen. I've look into the BIOS and there is nothing about Touchpad. And I've to launch an Ubuntu live cd and touchpad still doesn't work. Maybe there is a secret keystroke for reactive, but I don't find it.

Re: GNOME3 unstable - lost touchpad after upgrade

Check your BIOS? If it doesn't work in any OS then it is either switched off or the hardware has given up. As you've already said that you've tried turning it on using the keyboard fn key, the only thing I can think of is BIOS other than hardware failure.

That'll teach me not to read. I'd probably guess hardware failure then if there isn't a setting in the BIOS and the fn keys don't work.
