I downgraded to the stable release of GNOME, but now I cant get the clock-applet to work?

GTK3 apps consume a lot of vertical space, such as the ~toolbar in nautilus. Is there any way to reduce the size of those toolbars ?
There is little to be tweaked at this moment. That will improve in the future - maybe it's enough to install another theme?

how add applets to gnome-panel?
applets from /usr/share/gnome-panel/4.0/applets
You can't: (from the wiki) "The contents of the panel are entirely system-owned: this communicates a clear delineation of role to users and promotes the identity of the desktop as a separate entity from applications, as does the visual styling of the panel. This styling has also been designed in order to be non-distracting and to enable users to focus on the task at hand."

presss the Alt key before right clicking on the panel.

To repeat an old saying often said when such things are asked: "It will be released when it's ready."
One must remember, just because the parent, ie GNOME, released 3.0, doesn't mean that all the package maintainers need o do is push a switch or run a copy command to release it in community. Al kinds of things from testing also have to be released, and such.
As much as I am eager for GNOME 3 to be available for me to get my grubby little hands on, I'd much rather the maintainers make certain that it and all required components can be released without several borking a majority of the user's systems; than having to take time to answer "when can I get it" questions that are repeatedly asked in 11111+ threads.

In fact there is an option in dconf, to use small icons in toolbar (org.gnome.desktop.interface->toolbar-icons-size) but it does not seem to have any effect =/

You can edit the css-style of the theme.
@mango123: the items in the gnome-shell panel can not be edited at the moment. (maybe with future extensions or something like that)

Not even the fallback mode worked for me, craptastic! I hope it will be way more stable very soon.

The GDM doesn't display the my username on the login box screen anymore, it only displays 'other' and I have to input the username manually and then the password, anyone else experiencing this or is it only me?

I made a Clean ArchLinux install under Virtualbox specially to test Gnome 3.
I did everything indicated in the wiki page of Gnome 3
Good news: It starts.
Bad news: It starts in Fallback Mode, saying that my graphics does not support the "normal" mode. I own an Intel core i3 350M CPU, which had an graphic chipset, with open sourced drivers.
I installed both the xf86-video-intel, and xf86-video-vesa drivers.
I'm not very familiar with Virtualbox, I can't make an "hard" install right now, but I'll enjoy to test Gnome 3, so if you have any clue...
Thank you

@Lowra virtualbox emulates a video card and is not using your system one, therefor xf86-video-intel is kinda useless.

Yep, I've been thinking that. So there is NO way to make Gnome 3 works in the normal mode under Virtualbox ? It's sad, I wanted really tried it

Shotwell needs a rebuild I guess:
$ shotwell
shotwell: error while loading shared libraries: libwebkit-1.0.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Actually, 3D acceleration should generally work in Virtualbox >3.0 for Linux. See this http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28088
Also, you can check IRC chan of the virtualbox guys: irc://irc.freenode.org/vbox

There is one bug in Gnome 3, when you go to dconf-editor and set to Draw Background with Folders etc then you have to open nautilus first to make it visible, same after reboot - firstly nautilus and then its visible. The same thing on two different PCs.

It's no more Metacity, but Mutter. Try gnome-tweak-tool.

Gnome 3 works fine now !
From AUR, I'have installed Elementary's icons pack and set up it with gnome-tweak-tool. But the theme from deviant art don't work.
Shotwell work now with the community-testing package and liferea with testing package.

Now it's in testing, cool. I like it. But the only fail I see is nautilus:
nautilus: error while loading shared libraries: libgnome-desktop-2.so.17: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I can't run it. Any ideas?
