Hi!
I have machine with pulse audio installed. Im using this machine as sound server over local network. Its working fine but just when Im logged in KDE session. When I boot into console, I can't stream audio to this PC.
I have tried to start pulse with pulseaudio --start (which Im not doing in KDE session) but with no effect.
What do I need to do to have pulse over network in concole mode? (runlevel 3)
Thanks

Don't know if it's of any help but have you tried running pulse as a system-wide daemon?
Haven't tried it myself but sounds like something that might be worth taking a look at.

It has been told me not to run pulseaudio as system-wide daemon. Don't know exactly why but in my opinion Im that kind of user in console mode like in X enviroment... so it must be caused by some unloaded libraryes... or something

As you say I haven't seen anyone that recommends doing it.
Think pulse is started when then first application using it tries to access it (that is applications linked to pulseaudio).
In your case probably kde's sound layer and when your logout it's shutdown.
But the application your running should have loaded pulse for you when started but since it didn't work I thought
it might be a try to do it system-wide to see if it worked and possibly narrow down the problem.
Since you didn't say what program your using, if it's streamed by pulse from the other host or another streaming protocol
it's kind of hard to guess ![]()

You shouldn't need system-mode in this case. What happens when you try and start pulseaudio with -vvvv (or some level of verbosity)? I think its simply trying to load the x-specific modules and choking on it. Check /etc/pulse/default.pa.

with verbose option Im getting this:
$ pulseaudio --start -vvvv
I: main.c: Daemon startup successful.again, in KDE pulseaudio does not have to be started manually. I can remember that even in fluxbox I did not have to run it and streaming was functional

So once you start it up manually everything works (audio-wise)?

no, than streaming is still not working

You should diff pactl list between the two cases and see what's different in what's loaded.
