Hi all,
I did a mega update to refresh my distro on my aspire one. It was a big jump from 2.35.x kernel and now I have an error starting X:
[ 22.383] (EE) Error compiling keymap (server-0)
[ 22.383] (EE) XKB: Couldn't compile keymap
[ 22.383] XKB: Failed to compile keymap
[ 22.383] Keyboard initialization failed. This could be a missing or incorrect setup of xkeyboard-config.
[ 22.383]
Fatal server error:
[ 22.383] Failed to activate core devices.
Maybe I miss something for my rolling release. Some help ?
Thank you

Do you have any space left on the device?

@karol: I still have 6 Gb so I don't think it could be such a space left problem.
@krisoijn: I will check it. It is assigned to root but will check all the mask.
Thanks both.

I had the exact same problem here. Apparently, it's caused by package xorg-xkb-utils. After downgrading it, everything went back to normal.
No space or rights problem on my system so far… Has someone an idea of the problem or should I just report a bug ?

I just updated my system and had similar issue.
problem was that file /usr/bin/xkbcomp missing.
this binary is in package xorg-xkbcomp and package was incorretly installed. after reinstall package it's work fine.

This appears to be a bug in xorg-xkbcomp -- just reinstall this package. There also appear to be install problems with two font packages -- xorg-mkfontscale, and xorg-mkfontdir, both of which I had to re-install.
