I'm using a fresh install of Arch x64_86 at the moment, and I've installed the stable version of Chromium from the repositories (11.0.696.65). Sometimes when I open a new tab in the browser, it will cause the entire system to lock up, forcing a hard reboot. This happens roughly once a day and, as far as I can, is totally unrelated to flash or any other addons.
Any idea where I might start looking to fix this?

Can you at least change consoles with ctrl+alt+F1 and to to tty1, look any logs?

Do you have any extensions/apps/themes installed? These can put an extra load on the system.

No extensions, and the system is at an entire freeze, not just the current desktop. Requires a hard reset to fix. Unfortunately the only solution I've found is to use Firefox!

The latest chromium in the repo is 12.0.742.100-1 : http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort … =&limit=50
Can you Syu and check if it works again. If you don't get an update for chromium, try switching mirrors.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
