Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

Thank you for updating archboot. Unfortunately, I cannot get LUKS encryption to work with this new release.

Using the GUI installer (GPT, ext4), the error that comes back says "Passphrases didn't match". If I run cryptsetup in the command line, I get:

#cryptsetup luksFormat /dev/sda2
device-mapper: table 254.0: crypt: unknown target type
device-mapper: reload ioctrl failed: Invalid argument
Failed to setup dm-crypt key mapping for device /dev/sda2.
Check that kernel supports aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 cypher (check syslog for more info).

Using "aes-xts-plain" gives the same error. I tried manually loading the crypto modules, but that got me nowhere.

Just a guess, it could be that the dm modules are not in the environment.
mkinitcpio changed that it could be that dm-* was not added.
Damn, you could solve this by manually extracting those modules from the kernel26 package.

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

has the iso been taken down for some reason? all of the mirrors list a checksum for the iso in md5sum.txt, so i assume the file has been created, but i have yet to find a mirror with an actual copy of the iso. no seeders on bittorrent, either

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

I removed the -1 iso 8 hours ago, the -2 iso  syncs since 2 hours to the servers, just be patient.
Some servers already got it.

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

Hello,
What is the difference between an old archboot CD (eg 2009.09) and this one?  I assume the new CDs now supoort EFI.  With all three of our mac mini's the 2009.09 archboot CD works fine.  With two of our mac mini (I haven't tested the third), using the new archboot CD I get a prompt:

Select CD-ROM Boot Type :
1.
2.

At this prompt there is no keyboard response.

With one of the mac mini, if I hold down 'ALT' I get a gui prompt.  If I select 'EFI' with the picture of a CD the boot disk loads.  Unfortunately the other mac mini goes to the 'Select CD-ROM Boot Type :'.

If my assumption regarding the EFI support on the newer boot disks is correct, is there a nice way for me to create a boot CD without EFI support for testing?

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

I'm trying Archboot and it looks great.
But an error occurred when it comes to "Install Packages". Msg shows that no /src/core-* found. So the installation is stopped.
How can I do?

Have you mount the medium to /src ?
Or what exactly have you done?

No, I don't know how to mount those core-* directions. When and how to do this?
I've just inserted the USB, then typed /arch/setup to install. But when it comes to Install Packages stage, an error occurred.
Thanks.

Then it seems the setup routine cannot detect your usbstick.
Look at /dev for sdX devices, type dmesg and grep for them to see which is your usbstick.
Then type:mount /dev/sdX /src
and all will work.

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

Archboot is really awesome! And I have two pieces of suggestion which may help.
1. Don't know it's my USB stick's problem or whaterever, it cannot mount core-*/pkg direction automatically. So I can only install via net for I really don't know how to mount manually.
2. Actually I suddenly forget what to say. Hmmm, maybe it's a little bit complex for a newbie for there's not enough resources available to guide. Because some part of the installation is different from the official one.
OK, that's all. And thanks for bringing us Archboot.

Didn't you ask the same question in the previous release thread - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 46#p909446

That thread pertains to the first mac mini (version 2,1) I was testing on.  This thread pertains to another mac mini, version 1,1.  The difference was holding down the ALT key wasn't loading the GUI mac boot loader (or whatever it is called).  I found that the keyboard must be in the far right (when looking at the back of the mac mini) USB port in order for this to work.

My main question was "What is the difference between an old archboot CD (eg 2009.09) and this [current image]?".

How to create a Archboot ISO without EFI boot support? This was your question for which the answers was already given. In case of AIF (official) iso, it does not support (U)EFI, both for ISO booting or in the installer.

1. I gave you already an answer in my previous post, I don't know why your drive is not mounted autumatically the setup routine has a function to mount cd drive and usb drives.
ls /dev/sd* would be interesting or ls /dev/mmc*
2. It's not that different all is mentioned on the wiki imho, if something is missing just raise your questions here and I try to fix things, if needed.

Enjoy Arch and of course archboot smile

Would it be possible to include ZSH in future releases? Ideally with grml-zsh-config?

I don't think of adding another shell to the environment, you could use a usbstick with those packages in combination with the following boot parameter.
- arch-addons boot parameter
You want to load external addon packages or configs into the install environment.
Place external addon packages in /packages directory of your external device

Package ntfs-3g is missing from x64, installation fails when installing from USB (was forced to install from FTP).

When it comes to “install packages”, i meet the same problem with you. error: target not found ntfs-3g.
ls /src, It shows the medium /dev/sdb1 has already mounted.
i686, Create bootable USB with dd command.

Re: 2011.05-2 archboot "2k11-R2" ISO hybrid image released

I can't for the life of me get past the start screen (Using PXE)... The Wiki has some incorrect information. But I can't boot Memtest, Or any of the installation options. When I press enter it just returns back to the main screen (like it redraws).

Has anyone gotten this to work?

Cant't you just tell it to use one kernel and initrd? without any menu.
Haven't done any PXE stuff latetly but afaik you can configure everything.
