New driver that just came out today for Arch still crashes Come on Nvidia fix itYep still broken, messed up shit
Disabling desktop effects works for me though on an x64 system. All the other packages are up to date
This bug also occurs when resizing Terminator (as well as Konsole) on my machine. I have a Nvidia graphics card and am running KDE. Disabling desktop effects also stopped the problem. This problem doesn't seem to effect my laptop though which also has a nvidia card. Also it didn't happen to me to today on my desktop, although I almost always maximise through keyboard shortcuts rather than the mouse, so possibly this avoids the problem. I am on my laptop at the moment so can't test this theory on the other machine.

It's happening to me too. As seen, not only me have this problem. It's incredible that almost all bugs that I have is related with nvidia proprietary driver.

Same bug here with :
* xorg-server 1.10.1-1
* nouveau-firmware 20091212-4
* xf86-video-nouveau 0.0.16_git20110316-2
OK with xorg-server 1.9.x

...never mind. I've just discovered tmux.
xterm + tmux: kick ass combination, highly recommended; urxvt's panels no longer needed.

I'm using xorg19 from catalyst repo with 270.41.06 and it works fine.
In the past the desktop freezed for a while after resizing a transparent konsole with something like this in message log:
NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context

Is someone test this : http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=160120 ?
if you compile xserver yourself go to /xserver/mi/mieq.c and adjust
#define QUEUE_SIZE 512
to something like 2048 or 4096
It might be the same bug ?

Anyone got an update on how to resolve this? Still only Nvidia related?

270.41.19 and 275.09 released:

No time to test now, but some of you might want to give it a try and check whether it solves the problem?

Are you guys really sure the problem is with nvidia? I've asked this already... but feel, like nothing wrong with nvidia.
My friend experiences problems with opensource ati drivers as well. System won't freeze, but artifacts will appear on the screen frequently.
The problem has been solved by downgrading ntrack and some of the xorg packages.

downgrading ntrack is related to this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=116355 , and yes, a workaround is to downgrade the xorg-server package.

Moreover, I hadn't experienced that bug when used kde 4.6.1.
...that's because on kde 4.6.1 you were using an old xorg version too.
Anyway just downgrading to xorg 1.9 works for me.
Gozer ~ # pacman -Q xorg-server
xorg-server 1.9.4.901-1
Gozer ~ # pacman -Q nvidia

Interesting. For me Konsole graphics gets messed up when resizing but it does not crash.

Have you tried resizing it horizontally?

At weekend i tried mesa-git and nouveau-git and latest Xorg (not git).
No freezes at all, konsole can be rezised without a harm and no need to downgrade Xorg or any other package for me.
I´m quite impressed of nouveau. Even old windows games in wine are working.

But how about the nvidia driver, did you tried it with mesa-git?
