Just curious as to why the choice for selecting either one or both IPv4 IPv6 on the Pacman Mirrorlist Generator?

I did a brief Wikipedia read explaining the differences. I see a different list gets generated based on the user selection and the results are probably is based on the protocol implemented by the mirror. Why not just have no selection for that, and give the list for both?
Would there be any speed or other advantage for the user, based on the selection?

I don't quite understand the question.... It allows to the user to select which IP transport they wish to use. They might want to force only IPv4 or IPv6 mirrors in their list for whatever reason.
For instance, if I could get IPv6 working (a whole other story; problem with CentOS) then I would still want to force IPv4 for my pacman updates since my ISP provides me with unmetered access to their mirror, but only over IPv4, so if I used IPv6 then my updates would start counting towards my monthly quota.

I didn't think about the ISP's possibly metering and charging differently between the two........
