[SOLVED] irssi beginner questions

Until recently I never felt the need to install an IRC client, but things change so I thought installing irssi would be quite a blast. But there are several things I've didn't found in the tutorials I've read until now

1-how can I view the list of all available channels on a certain IRC server, 'cause /channel list displays only the channels available in my config file
2-how can I hide my bloody IP if someone does /whois on my nick name
