Yesterday, I made the mistake of installing eclipse to check it out. Ever since I installed (and quickly uninstalled) the bloatware, my conkeror-git has been complaining that it can't find XULrunner:
/usr/bin/conkeror: cannot continue. XULRunner not found.
Xulrunner is installed, of course:
$ which xulrunner
/usr/bin/xulrunner
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both xulrunner and conkeror several times, as well as rebooting my machine.
I don't know much about xulrunner, but is it possible that the eclipse install messed with some sort of xulrunner configuration file that persists despite reinstalls?

I found the persistent configuration that I was looking for. After consulting /usr/bin/conkeror, I solved this problem by moving /etc/gre.d to /etc/gre.d.bak and reinstalling xulrunner.
FWIW, it seems that eclipse changes the xulrunner registry in ways that cause the /usr/bin/conkeror script to barf. (Weaning myself off xulrunner by learning uzbl is on my todo list - I promise!)
