[solved] download only 50 k/bs (rtl8192se)

Hi,

i have a problem with my internet connection. I only can download with a speed of 50 k/bs. I have a wlan connection with wicd. Before i had networkmanager. I don't find a solution.
We have a setup with two routers here. I have setup my connection after i read the beginners guide. Under Windows 7 it downloads faster. I have a Realtek rtl8192se.

can anyone help ?

Are you referring to some specific download? Some servers limit how fast can you download (e.g. archlinux.org).

As Karol said, what are you comparing this to?

Do an internet speed test (speedtest.net) and then see if the download speed is just as slow.

One more thing: check your aliases, because you might have capped it yourself:

[karol@black ~]$ type wget
wget is aliased to `wget -c --limit-rate=50K'

I tried downloading a trailer from apple.com with wget and get only 50 k/b. I downloaded some other stuff and noticed it comes not over 50 k/b. Wget says nothing about limitation. I think it could be the driver for the wlan card.

yes it is..

dont forget the rtl8192se is still in staging. its going to be included in the 3.0 kernel.

you could try building and installing the git kernel and test it out

today everything seems to be fine. yesterday my isp had some problems. now i can download from apple.com with 300 k/bs
