[Solved] Nvidia Twinview issue

I am running 2 monitors (well technically, one is a TV, the other is a monitor) on my desktop, and every time I set up the TV using nvidia-settings for twinview, some part of the screen ends up off the TV.  The problem lies soley with the TV, and not my original monitor.  I also am running the same driver on my laptop, and it has the same issue with this TV, and another TV I have used.

Below are some images:

This is what I see.

This is a screenshot of both the monitor (left) and desktop (right).

As you can see the window on my TV is maximized, but on my screen, significant parts of it are cut off.  I have tried googling this before, and since it is happening to 2 different machines with completely different hardware (both in terms of the cards being different and the second monitors being different), I doubt it is limited to just me.  Is it just a driver issue, or am I missing something?

Re: [Solved] Nvidia Twinview issue

for my dual monitor needs, I simply use the xrandr command in my .xinitrc.

Have you tried that option? There are a bunch of threads on this. Search the forums and you will find the threads.

Re: [Solved] Nvidia Twinview issue

It's "overscan" and is a stupidity by the TV. It thinks it's getting a TV signal, not a computer picture. On my TV, you select what kind of input is is coming in. Check for something like that, or if the tv has an overscan setting and turn it off. If not, there's an overscan setting in nvidia-settings.

A bit off-topic: A TV with a resolution of 1280x720? Haven't seen this before. TVs in Europe are either "HD-Ready" (1366x768), or "Full-HD" (1920x1080).

Re: [Solved] Nvidia Twinview issue

Thanks, Gusar.  Your solution was absolutely spot on.

As for the weird resolution: It was one of the possible resolutions.  It does support both 1366x768 and 1920x1080, but it looked much better at 1280x720.  Now I am back to 1366x768.

You seem to be fixing most of my problems big_smile
