Hi guys,
I do have a strange noise on the microphone. You can hear it at http://www.varesano.net/files/mic_noise_linux.ogg
I've been having this issue for about 6 months but never been in the mood to investigate it..
This happens only in Archlinux, Windows sounds just fine.
My soundcard info:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Toshiba Satellite A100-796 audio (Realtek ALC861)
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 45
Memory at f0c00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel
Any suggestion appreciated. Let me know if I should post more hw/sw informations.
Thanks,
Fabio Varesano

There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Thanks, but that topic doesn't seem to point to any solution. Moreover that looks like a different problem than mine.
My noise is generates on sounds recorded from the microphone.
A picture of my alsamixer is at http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/6092/alsamixer.png
