nvidia/kdm problem on upgrade to 4.7?

I'm not sure if the problem is a nvidia driver issue or kdm problem.

When I boot the driver starts to load, you can see the nvidia splash screen, but when kdm loads it crashes and drops me back to text mode.

I loaded the nouveau drivers and the behavior was the same.
I also disabled kdm, in /etc/inittab and tried startx and behavior was the same.

I am currently using the nvidia driver and would like to trouble-shoot this setup. I'm suspecting it is probably a kde issue with how my driver is set up. However not sure how to proceed.

Re: nvidia/kdm problem on upgrade to 4.7?

Only problem is I can only transcribe the logs because I am only able to get to a console. I am posting on a windows/work computer.

I did change my /etc/inittab file to load xdm instead of kdm, and it did load successfully. However I didn't configure xdm so it's not loading into any desktop environment. I'm guessing it's a problem with kde/kdm now and the nvidia driver.

What logs should I be posting? I'm not familiar with utilizing the log files.

Re: nvidia/kdm problem on upgrade to 4.7?

You can e.g. copy the files or e-mail them to yourself.
For starters:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
/var/log/kernel.log

Have you searched the forums? I'm not a kde guy but maybe https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=123609 is about the issue you're having.
Or maybe https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=123585
