I frequently run into old threads with old problems, although they are listed under 'New' (necrobumping is maybe too frequent). One way of avoiding that is to put the start date of the thread alongside the thread listing in a search, like the standard 'New' search from the forum menu. Would this be possible? Or maybe I have missed some setting somewhere in my forum profile?

I'm not sure if I get it - you see it as a feature to stop people necrobumping or one that would help your forum experience?
There are many long-running threads that started years ago. I've seen a feature on other forums that adds a text just above the 'Post reply' field saying e.g.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes … _id=219942
Warning: The last post in this thread is over two months old.
If you bump this, you better have a good reason.
There's also a graphic that says 'Old post" below posts older than X days.

No, like this; example
brasero's substitute by nTia89, 2005-05-12
Not like this:
brasero's substitute by nTia89
(Formatting is gone from this 'New' listing). That would make it very clear when a thread was started and you'll get the right information for reading it or not. I mean, a thread started 2005 would, today, be of less interest in most cases since the base problem and the solution differs radically. Specially on a rolling release as ours.

I think there's a way to do it + get rid of the new threads that are of no interest to you (e.g. you don't want to read about Ati or KDE): subscribe to the forums that interest you and you will get notified about new threads. Subscribe to the threads you like and ignore the rest - they won't clutter your rss / e-mail reader.

I read a broad spectrum of threads concering almost all aspects of Arch and Linux. So your solution isn't what I'm looking for. Is there really no way of adding this tiny bit of information?

not unless you create a feature request on the fluxBB bug tracker, and the devs accept it.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

It may be possible to e.g. color the title if it's older than X days using some kind of userscripts, independently of the forum software.

Think I'll do that. Thx.

I still think color-coding would be better - it doesn't clutter the display.
I'm using http://greasefire.userscripts.org/scripts/review/83390 and it nicely colors threads, so I know it's possible e.g. threads older than a month are red.

swanson, you should have just created a feature request on the bug tracker. I believe that would have gotten the devs involved a bit sooner.

Ah well, I'll do another try.
Yes, color coding might be OK but on other bbs systems this is pretty basic.
