Arch in VM fails to boot with file not found error after update

I did a full update of my VM today and it pulled the latest kernel from core as well as a few other bits.
After rebooting it failed with a file not found and the fallback kernel would not work.

I found I had to manually change the menu.lst to have the name of the new kernel (using a sys rescue cd)  - so from vmlinuz to vmlinuz-linux
It boots ok now but I'm not entirely sure this was the correct method.

Re: Arch in VM fails to boot with file not found error after update

it was since it boots correctly now. roll

In addition you might also want to delete the symlinks under /boot/kernel26*
