I saw all the fuss over XFCE (Linus Torvalds comments), why not give it a shot? It's not bad, actually... I rather enjoy it. It's refreshing to load into a usable desktop in 22 seconds from pressing the power button with low footprint (and stays low even after 20+ hours of working). I do miss the Compiz/KDE/Gnome polish, but it isn't THAT old looking, is it? Still running stock kernel until the patch-sets come up to speed. Wallpaper is from a vacation spot I used to visit as a kid I found on Google images: Emerald Isle, NC. Some day, SOME DAY I'll get to take my family on a real vacation. My kids have only seen the ocean once; this disturbs me
