I bought a new Epson printer. I had already installed the proper driver (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42294) as well as cups. However, the cups online interface (localhost:631) is not recognizing it.
When I click "Find Printers" to see if mine is listed, I have this output in /var/logs/cups/error_log:
E [16/Aug/2011:17:24:06 -0500] [CGI] Unable to create avahi client: Resource temporarily unavailable
E [16/Aug/2011:17:24:06 -0500] [cups-deviced] PID 11933 (dnssd) stopped with status 1!
Does anyone else have a printer like this and/or could help me out? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is the Avahi daemon running ?
I assume you are using it in a wifi mode.
Does the printer connect to your router?
Do you know its address?
Does the printer host a web page for administration? Can you browse the printers site (by IP address)?

No, I actually have the computer connected to the printer by USB at the moment. I was going to move on to wifi later.
You were right, avahi-daemon wasn't running. I added it to my /etc/rc.conf
My new error was
D [16/Aug/2011:20:49:09 -0500] [CGI] libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/002: Permission denied.
D [16/Aug/2011:20:49:09 -0500] [CGI] libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.
D [16/Aug/2011:20:49:09 -0500] [cups-deviced] PID 4216 (usb) exited with no errors.
Which was easily fixable from here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CU … ermissions
This is now my output, which doesn't seem to have any errors.

All right... humorously enough, I wasn't able to get the computer to work over usb, but it works fine using wifi. Granted, It's only printing junk at the moment, but I assume I solved my initial problem.
