I am having this issue nearly for two weeks now. When I select text in a box, it gets deselected without me hitting any key, and sometimes, when I try to select text, and then typing "delete" or some other text to replace the selected text, the text selection deactivates and my text gets appended instead. This is across all apps that seem to be using gtk, although I am not completely sure. It doesn't happen in firefox, for example, but it does in gnucash. Any ideas?

Random suggestion - touchpad issues?
I think you'd need to provide more details on your system though. What DE/WM, for example, and whether you're using keyboard or mouse selection, what sort of mouse, etc....

I have noticed it a couple of times on my desktop machine as well, but I always thought that it was PEBKAC. I will pay more attention to it if it occurs again.

Do you have by chance parcellite installed? This is a known bug in 1.0.2rc3.
Downgrading to 1.0.2rc2-1 did help.
