I get this message in vbox
This kernel requires an x86-64 cpu but only detected an i686 cpu
I have already Win7 64 bit and ubuntu64
Any ideas ?

are you saying that you have win7 and ubuntu 64 bit in vbox as well ?
if not, then for virtualbox to be able to access 64 bit, you have to enable it. The setting might be in the BIOS. Also make sure you choose ArchLinux 64 bit when creating a .vdi
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

i think you can run x86_64 in virtualbox only if your CPU supports hardware virtualization
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Did you try the VirtualBox site? http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.h … 4bitguests
And the table on http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Guest_OSes says this about Arch,
Installation has to be booted with the ide-legacy option.

Machine -> Settings -> General -> Basic -> Version -> Arch Linux (64 bit)
If all things are good, except this one, will not work.
