When I try to ifconfig wlan0 up i get: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not possible due to RF-kill.
So I installed rfkill, which told me its hard blocked. Disconnecting the wired connection has no effect as has bringing it down with netcfg. I have a Medion md 42200 laptop and it shows up on http://rfswitch.sourceforge.net/?page=laptop_matrix . So I installed acerhk from the aur and loaded the module and echoed the 1 to /proc/driver/acerhk/wirelessled. But it turns out that this file constantly gets overwritten (empty). I am not really sure how to prevent that..

Did you try 'man rfkill'?
It shows you the options of that app, and how to unblock a device or group of devices.

I am sorry, I should have mentioned i tried unblocking it with rfkill without success.
The previous version of my post had all that in it, but during posting i had some ideas and tried different things and wrote the most of it up, tried to post and was logged out. I thought of that and planned on copying the post before, but my mind failed, so the 2nd version got quite a bit shorter.
