3G Data Card

Hi All:

Just wanted to share. Got a 3G USB Data Card - India Reliance. I was told that there is no guarantee that it would work in Linux. ZTE MF 668A.

Reliance Offers a linux installer. Just unpack it. From Arch Repos installed wvdial, wvstreams and Gnome - PPP (was not needed though)

cd into the folder... did a ./install.sh as root. It did everything.

Plugged in the card. Opened up the Reliance_3G menu entry iunder Internet. Clicked Connect. Got a failed to build ppp0 error. Logged in as root. Connected automatically. Good Speeds.
Added user to group tty. Rebooted. Now connected as user.

Painless. Arch is great.
