hi, this should maybe be in newbie corner
for a few months i have been running a small server pretty exclusively as an ftpserver using bftpd, but today i installed NFSv4 to share with the increasing number of linux computers instead. i have managed to get it to work real well, at least between the two machines i've been testing on, but when i tried to start bftpd again i get the error "Bind failed: Address family not supported by protocol". I must also point out i did a full system upgrade for the first time in maybe 3 months (which included kernel upgrade 2.6 > 3) without testing bftpd inbetween, but followed the output and have gotten everything else to work just as before. I also installed bftpd on the client computer (also newly pacman -Syu:ed after the summer) just to see if it would start there, which it did without a problem.
I have searched for hours without finding any relevant answers. The only thing i have figured out it is that it is probably a problem somehow with IPv4 vs IPv6, but i dont know how that could happen. have also tried to check relevant logs, but cant find the error anywhere. where should i look for more clues?
And how should domains be handled in the idmap.conf file? does it have to have .org at the end? but that shouldnt matter, since NFS seems to work like it should...
thanks in advance
