modemmanager problem

hi,

    i am unable to connect to the internet using my 3g modem (Huawei EC1260) because modemmanager is unable to help networkmanager recognise my modem.

    i have tried to start/stop modemmanager from the terminal but i get the same error whenever it try to do so

    <code>
        modem-manager[1275]: <info>  ModemManager (version 0.5) starting...
modem-manager[1275]: <warn>  Could not acquire the org.freedesktop.ModemManager service as it is already taken. Return: 3
    </code>

     i get the same error even after i kill the process from system manager.

     Reinstalling the package hasnt helped nor have i been able to find a .config file which contained any useful option (atleast to my limited knowledge).

     is there any place else i should be looking?

Re: modemmanager problem

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your problem or not, but do you have usb_modeswitch installed?

Re: modemmanager problem

yes, i have usb_modeswitch installed. the modem was properly detected and used to work until this happened.

EDIT: i have checked again, just in case. the modem is being properly switched by the package from "12d1:1446" to "12d1:140b".
