Network Manager problems - Adaptors not detected

Hi

Installed arch with kde & lxde onto an oldish laptop that I wanted to breathe some new life into yesterday

I'm a total Arch noob and most of my experience is with opensuse & to a lesser degree, debian

Up until the point I installed NetworkManager (NM) by following the Arch NM wiki the wired connection was working fine, I followed the wiki right to it's end so don't think I left anything out

On rebooting the machine after installing NM the wired connection stopped working so I fired up the NM gui and found that NM doesn't appear to be detecting the presence of any network adaptors. I have to use the command 'networkmanagement' to open the NM gui but shouldn't it automatically load up and sit in the tray if everything was working correctly?

The ethernet is a Realtek 8139 and the wi-fi an Atheros AR928X (which should I believe use ath9k)

The NM gui has only the Wired (showing no connections) and VPN tabs enabled with the rest being greyed out, the Add, Edit & Delete buttons on the Wired tab are also greyed out, if I click onto the VPN tab the Wired tab disables and I can't click back into it

I thought perhaps dbus might not be running which would I believe interfere with NM working correctly but verified that it is in fact running (dbus-launch & dbus-daemon)

I have no experience troubleshooting this particular issue so any help anyone can give me to try resolving this will be most appreciated

what does ifconfig say?
when you think its dbus related - just restart dbus using /etc/rc.d/dbus restart
groups?
is there any errormessage when you restart networkmanager (like dbus)?

More specifically, what does ifconfig -a say?
A better command is ip link say? (ifconfig is deprecated)

Finally, could you post the output of lspci -nn (That is two n's, not m)?

I'm also getting the following when starting the network

These were all done after issuing 'ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.35 ' & 'route add default gw 192.168.0.1 eth0' which I need to do so as to get a net connection

Just as well no-one added anything else about this

I decided to do away with the windows on the machine as I also wanted a look at chakra (kde arch-based distro) so thought I'd set up a dual boot arch/chakra scenario on it which involved a whole new partition layout

Got the arch on there, net working sweet as ya like, installed chakra but it uses a bootloader called burg which I've never come across before, it didn't detect the arch installation and add it to the menu, so at the moment I'm trying to figure out how to get the arch booting again by editing the burg's cfg file ... not very successfully so far I might add

Dont know exactly whether I have same issue but any way looks similar so me so i'll go ahead :

I installed networkmanager and added it rc.conf.
It loads at startup. But SOMETIMES, I mean very frequently the internet access is not estblished even on entering desktop.
It's exactly arch issue, I think it as KDE's networkmanagent implementation issue since kubuntu had similar problem. I think in Gnome the problem is there but rare & not as frequent as KDE.
Windows 7 works fine.

Sure. The size limitation is there to account for users on slow connections.
Posting the link provides enough information in most cases.

BTW, most thumbnails tend to be too small to be of any relevance, IMO, because too much detail got lost.
