I installed tomato on my shiny new WNR3500L. I went through the whole shebang of netgear --> dd-wrt --> tomatousb (vpn).
However, I feel that the connection is slower than the stock firmware. I also keep getting "xxx browser is unable to display the page". Things that happen when there is no network connection. But the bars are at full strength.
I know there is a Transmit Power in tomato which is currently set at 42 (the default) and I know I can increase it, but I would think this has to do with something else. Like I mentioned, I do get full bars in my wireless indicator so transmitting power is not the issue. What should I look at?
I am using the latest TomatoUSB with VPN version 1.28.
Also what should I set in my wireless mode? I set it to "Auto", and my n-capable laptop was getting only 11Mbps signal. Then I explicitly set it to "N Only".
Any pointers?

I hate to be the party pooper, but shouldn't you be asking that on the Tomato forums? ![]()
Did you check your logs? OpenWrt doesn't save logs to flash, but in RAM, you can use logread to access them. Tomato probably has something similar.

yeah, I was just hoping if someone had some pointers. I plan to actually move back to the stock firmware, so I can compare them again. Then re-install tomato all over again ![]()
Meanwhile, I will also post on the tomato forums.
