command line NetworkManager
I set up NetworkManager using instructions form ArchWiki
It wasn't working, I read somewhere here to put hal instead of dbus - did it.
Installed cnetworkmanager
After cnetworkmanager -C ssid --wpa-pass=mypassword
returns unable to set arguments (..) fewer items found in d-bus signature tan in python arguments
I googled it and found nothing, that is why I'm posting here.
If someone has a clue, but needs the whole error message, I can rewrite it.

I don't know if this well help you, but...
I started using wicd instead of networkmanager.
It seems to work better for some wireless setups.
Also what wireless card are you using?
Sometimes you need to take extra steps to get the driver working properly.

wicd-curses is in my opinion the best command line network manager. It's a part of wicd.

netcfg is also an option.

netcfg is also an option.

Very happy netcfg-user here. Only downside for me was that I was not able to connect via BT to my smartphone to share internet over 3G. Now that I'm using Gnome 3, I also use networkmanager, but not in CLI-mode...
