I recently update, and boldly tried adapting to the new network configuration way:
/etc/rc.conf:
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
# NETWORKING
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
#
# HOSTNAME: Hostname of machine. Should also be put in /etc/hosts
#
HOSTNAME="preptus"
#eth0="dhcp"
#INTERFACES=(eth0)
#gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
#ROUTES=(gateway)
interface=eth0
adress=192.168.0.7
netmask=255.255.255.0
gateway=192.168.0.1
# Setting this to "yes" will skip network shutdown.
# This is required if your root device is on NFS.
NETWORK_PERSIST="no"
#NETWORKS=(main)I don't know if i have missed anything, or such?
Because what i get is what seems to be a dhcp-leased adress from my router
(192.168.0,50, which is the first i have set the router to give)
I prefer having a static adress, as to not need to have dhcp or waiting for leases or such,
and i have everything set up to that static ip in the router.
Any helpful pointers? ![]()

What errors are you getting?
Have you been through this checklist of tests?

Ah, well yes that i have, besides the dns part.
That is how i deducted that my IP was given a dhcp-lease from the router, due to it's address.
I am writing this from "Play some random Game with your fingers crossed that nothing will randomly break without decent logs or output OS" (Also known as "Windows - 7 - in this case
"
Because I didn't get in touch with anything but my router and local server (residing in the kitchen) last boot, and fiddled a bit with route add and ifconfig the old way, but to no avail.
But, as the next post suggests.... ---->

Looks like you spelled "address" wrong in the rc.conf file. If "address" is not defined, /etc/rc.d/network uses dhcp.
Oh darn, i see that you are right
- here goes my linguistic pride to the crapper.
Damn typo anyhow
, i will reboot, remedy that, and see if things work as intended again.
Goodbye again Win7 *reboots*

It's fixed, finally ![]()
And all because of a letter "d" less in address ![]()
It's good though that linux tools are not sloppy when it comes to spelling ![]()
The second problem where reverting to the old system failed (and back to the new); was of course that dhcpcd regenerated (or 'effed up' as i'd like to call it) my resolv.conf,
putting back my nameserver line there made it all nice again.
So here i am again, with the "new network way (tm)" set up and working. ![]()
