Is it possible to install kde 4.8b1 from binary?

I've been on a mac for ages and have really grown out of love with it.  The KDE 4.9b1 announcement got me moist and thinking again about moving all my computers to linux.

I was wondering what the easiest way to install KDE 4.9b1 would be?  I'm not a linux newbie (despite the forum being posted to), I have no problem getting my hands dirty, but I'm still feeling my way around Arch.

Any help would be appreciated.

enable the kde-unstable repository or add it if you haven't already. Also enable testing.

As the names suggest -- unstable and testing means you should expect breakage. See this thread for more :
