weird issue with website(/s?)

I guess this relates to networking?
Anyway, for some arcane reason DeviantART stopped working, cleared cache, disabled all extensions, flushed history, flushed cookies, did everything, still nothing.
installed midori and firefox, still not working.

so I decided to contact their help desk, which just proved to be an utter waste of time (as expected)

here's a video demonstrating the issue, it's about 5 minutes long and shows extensive testing with all three mentioned browsers (two at stock settings, mind you) and it shows me re-disabling all extensions and clearing everything but saved passwords and form autofill data in chrome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eKQRWSL3pc

I'm at loss, it's been over a week now and I've tried everything and can't find even a hint as to what causes it.
at the time of recording the video I was running kernel 3.15.5-1-ARCH, not I'm running 3.15.5-2-ARCH (if that matters), DE is Mate 1.8.1, chrome version 35.0.1916.153 (Official Build 274914), Firefox version 32 and midori whatever version is current.
from what I can tell every other website works fine, no idea if other sites break since I don't visit too many websites.

What does “stopped working” mean?

as for what stopped working means, the video explains it quite well.
the dropdown menus don't work, the deviantWatch is broken and the menu items are unclickable (whenever I'm hovering over a menu I click after a while, then when nothing happens I click frantically to demonstrate it's not working).

at first I assumed (and still do) that the issue was on their end as it only affects me but they more or less said (heavily paraphrased) "no, fuck you. we can't replicate it on ubuntu therefore it must be on your end"

Re: weird issue with website(/s?)

Do you have a system-wide proxy, VPN, firewall, or some websites disabled in /etc/hosts?

Re: weird issue with website(/s?)

no proxy, OpenVPN is installed but not running, haven't touched any firewall settings so they're at default, if at all existing.

#
# /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
#

#<ip-address>	<hostname.domain.org>	<hostname>
127.0.0.1	localhost.localdomain	localhost
::1		localhost.localdomain	localhost

# End of file

hosts is also at default.

Re: weird issue with website(/s?)

You could try from another computer if possible, and/or another OS/distro.

Re: weird issue with website(/s?)

the same happens with firefox 22.0 on PartedMagic (on another computer entirely), however any theoretical solution would be nice as they completely refuse to accept that it is on their end, it's quite obviously on their end.
