[SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

After todays upgrade to FF 72 no web site loads even after reboot
downgrading to FF71 fixes the issue
create a new profile won't fix it
I rechecked my network settings
using vanilla arch install by hand not by custom installers
any help or workaround ?
thanks

EDIT:
I found out that HTTP sites work but HTTPS not working
The problem was my system used nss-hg that is older than core/nss
firefox 72 needs updated nss
now it works thank you all

Re: [SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

Nothing specific.

A few things to explore:
Can you browse by IP address rather than domain name?
Can you browse to things on you LAN?  Your router, for example?
Do you have an IPv6 address?  Have you tried a site that only uses IPv4?  theregister.com is one.  One of its IP addresses is 69.90.144.196.  Try both the domain and the IP

Edit:  Got home and updated.  Seems to be okay here.

Re: [SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

- browse using IP not working
- New FF72 profile not working
- Only downgrading to 71 or using Google chrome works
for now downgraded to FF 71

I did delete .Mozilla dir and tried many versions
only FF 72 has this issue
even after todays update

for now I use FF 71 but that is certainly not a solution

Re: [SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

Can't say I had your issue, though I had one not loading a search on one specific site. (see) https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 7#p1881747
Did you kill all FF processes, or you could restart your PC?
After that my problem was solved, just a thought though don't no it will help in your case..

Do you have DNS over HTTPS enabled in FF by chance?

Same problem here... No page loads.

It's not a DNS resolution issue either, and DoH is not enabled.

Re: [SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

+1, same symptoms, works only IP adressing

UPD:
Looks like some un-updated dependencies causing this, pacman -Syu fixed for me

Confirmed on it being dependencies. Ran a full update and everything is proper again.

Do locally stored html files work ?

Assuming you have libreoffice installed, try

firefox /usr/lib/libreoffice/LICENSE.html

Re: [SOLVED] websites fails to load Firefox 72

Time for a serious sanity check.  What are the output of
ip addr
and
ping 8.8.8.8
?

Please stop multiposting and bumping. You can respond to multiple people in the same post, and if you have something to add, but are the last poster, you can use the edit button to append to your post.

Also, this is the second time in this thread that you have responded to a suggestion by either dismissing it outright or doing something different. That sort of behaviour will not encourage people to try to assist you.

Try a new account. Post the information requested, even if you don't think it's relevant. Don't assume that you know better, otherwise people will quickly lose interest in helping you.

I suspect yes. Firefox in recent versions enabled new feature with DNS and the fact that FF71 and chrome work while FF72 does not - is an indication that the problem is in firefox settings. To be more precise, in the way firefox handles settings in about:config.

You can check FF network configs you changed. As a measure of last resort try to move (not delete!) firefox user folder to another location (or start firefox with new profile).

as a matter of fact I did try
1 ) delete .mozilla folder
2 ) refresh firefox
3 ) create a new firefox profile
4) toggle proxy with every possible variation
5) toggle dns over https
6) start firefox in safe mode

firefox views local html files normaly but it just dont browse any website I had to add firefox to pacman ignore pkg
I did try -Syyu today and same issue

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found out that is only fail to load HTTPS sites but HTTP sites works normaly

many http sites redirect automatically to https, I've searched for one that doesn't do that.

With FF 72 please run

$ firefox http://www.girlswithslingshots.com/ # close firefox
$ firefox https://www.girlswithslingshots.com/ # close firefox

and post the output.

Just restarted firefox again and now it works.
