[SOLVED] agetty: failed to open credentials directory

hello,

since the upgrade from util-linux from 2.39 to 2.40 i keep getting this warning in journal when booting up my system.
everything (seems) working, no failed units, but i'm just trying to understand if there's something wrong.
tried searching online but didn't end well.
someone can help me diagnose the problem?

linux-zen 6.8.2-zen2-1-zen
systemd 255.4-2
util-linux 2.40-1

thanks

Re: [SOLVED] agetty: failed to open credentials directory

https://github.com/util-linux/util-linux/issues/2896

Edit: https://github.com/util-linux/util-linu … ty.c#L3016
Unsetting CREDENTIALS_DIRECTORY in the service environment should silence that but not change anything about the behavior, so not much to worry here.

Re: [SOLVED] agetty: failed to open credentials directory

Hi. I have the same issue. But it breaks login, when using pam_ecryptfs. I am trying to configure it on new system. Still no resolution

Re: [SOLVED] agetty: failed to open credentials directory

Have you tried to unset the CREDENTIALS_DIRECTORY Environment  in the agetty service?

Re: [SOLVED] agetty: failed to open credentials directory

ssh will likely be subject to the same pam_encryptfs but won't get you an agetty warning?
