5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Im running Arch x86_64 con el Kernel 6.16.7-arch1-1 using i3wm, with an R7 2700x, rx 570 8gb, 16 gb of ram and a b550 plus wifi II as the mobo. And as the title says, I cant connect to any 5Ghz wifi, with 2.4 it works just fine, but when I switch to 5Ghz it just stop working. Idk if you need any more information. I hope anyone can help me.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Please don't paraphrase, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855
Please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

after "switch to 5Ghz [and] it just stop working"

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Is the "solution" supposed to be

Si ahora sí hay respuesta, el problema es únicamente que el DHCP en esa red 5 GHz no responde.
Eso suele ser un bug del router o de la tarjeta Wi-Fi en esa banda.
If there is now a response, the only problem is that the DHCP on that 5 GHz network is not responding.
This is usually a bug in the router or Wi-Fi card on that band.

?

Also you were instructed to enable and configure dhcpcd and systemd-networkd, at this point you might have a random amount of colliding services running (since there's no suggestion to disable any of that again)
Please post the output of

find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f

The debate also seems to largely revolve around DNS and DHCP, typically not relevant when you've issues w/ the same AP on a different band.

Reboot and post your journal if you want a more informed comment on the situation but "This is usually a bug in the router or Wi-Fi card on that band." is hardly a solution or understanding of the situation.

It worked fine for a while, I rebooted and it was still fine (~800mbps) but now the 5ghz is down to less than 1. It works unlike before but is slow.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Please remove the local copy of the journal (no need to copy around the internet wink) or  use [code][/code] tags.

There's only iwd and

sep 17 22:26:03 archlinux iwd[633]: event: connect-info, ssid: DIGIFIBRA-PLUS-5NPz, bss: 94:28:6f:14:33:e4, signal: -54, load: 0/255

apparently two different APs w/ comparable signal - from the SSID they both sound like 5GHz?
Can you get a station dump from each?

The parameter would be "11n_disable" and that's probably not a good idea if you want 5GHz support.

systool -vm iwlwifi
systool -vm iwlmvm

is that a command I have to put in the terminal? mb, im pretty newbie at this. Output is:

thats why I ask

◉ pacman -F systool
extra/sysfsutils

Does https://0x0.st/Kchl.txt already reflect the performance breakdown?

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Output for pacman -F systool:

extra/sysfsutils 2.1.1-2
    usr/bin/systool

Still the same output for systool -vm iwlwifi (tried before and after a reboot).

Here is the new one with the 5ghz working https://0x0.st/KTci.txt

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

The point was to inform you
a) that systool is part of the sysfsutils package
b) how to query that information
=> install sysfsutils

I want to see what happens when it starts to break down, the properly functioning state isn't that interesting here.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

https://0x0.st/KTyQ.txt

in this boot the wifi connection was extremely slow, https://www.speedtest.net/ took a while to load (I cant exactly tell how much but it was slow compared to when it works well), it took a while to connect to the test but once it connects its fast as usual, reaching 600-800 mbps.

(edit)

sep 19 18:07:16 archlinux kernel: iwlwifi: unknown parameter '11n' ignored

still appears

sep 19 18:07:18 archlinux iwd[653]: WARNING: src/resolve.c:resolve_systemd_set_dns() condition !systemd_state.is_ready failed

does this have anything to do with the problem?

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

still appears

because the parameter would still be "11n_disable", you've probably some "options  iwlwifi 11n disable"in your modprobe.conf

modprobe -c | grep -v alias | grep iwlwifi

resolve_systemd_set_dns() condition !systemd_state.is_ready failed

most likely comes from
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Iwd#En … figuration
Do you have a lease and a proper resolver config entry at this point?

you've a decent signal and effortless connection. There're no further messages from the kernl or iwd.

https://www.speedtest.net/ took a while to load (I cant exactly tell how much but it was slow compared to when it works well), it took a while to connect to the test but once it connects its fast as usual, reaching 600-800 mbps.

How is that

extremely slow

?
Essentially you had trouble to load some webpage *at all* what might hint at problems w/ the DNS server (the contents of resolv.conf) - let's first see what you're using as DNS server anyway and then you might have/want to veer away from that and use eg. cloudflare or google for DNS resolving (as well as potentially a local stub resolver)

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Obfuscate the line that starts w/ 2a0c:5a81, it's a publically routable IPv6 near Madrid.

But this looks unsuspicious and you're already using the cloudflare DNS (which is typically not a problem)
Because of the vague symptoms (initial delay, then normal speed in a browser) can you try to replicate this w/ the speedtest in ABBS (using wget only)?

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

How do I use ABBS? I have downloaded it already.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Save the script in some executable file (eg. "abbs") and then run

./abbs net speed

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

also when changing the DNS in /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf to 1.1.1.1 and restarting systemd-resolved with

sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved

i get normal speeds. But after restarting the changes in /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf disappear.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

So the 1.1.1.1 in #14 was already a mitigation?
Or do /etc/resolv.conf and /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf fall apart??
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/System … d#Manually
And then see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd-resolved#DNS - however you decide to configure the DNS, /etc/resolv.conf and /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf should™ have the same contents.
(The configuration is convoluted, fragile and redundant because systemd is one big NIH-driven vanity project…)

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

It was "fixed" for a while, normal speeds, but after a reboot and some time (maybe a couple of minutes) its slow again.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

What do the resolver files look like right now?
Also read the article I linked, afair from before your edit, you changed the resolved config but didn't symlink resolv.conf to the stub and it's not really clear but I assume you're also using the DHCP/DNS configuration by iwd.
Don't post stuff like "didn't work", post the actual stuff you do and the situation you get as a result - r/n *notably* the status of the resolver configs at either state!

Edit:

I have created the > :
> /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/fallback_dns.conf and restarted my machine and now it seems to be working fine? Hope it last

No, that won't help at all w/ controlling the DNS server.

Re: 5Ghz doesnt work on my machine.

Please use code tags, https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode - edit your posts in this regard.

/etc/resolv.conf is a symlink to /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf  ?
You're running resolvd as local DNS server and it's backed by 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 192.168.35.1 and then some.
192.168.35.1 is most likely your router and gateway?

ping -c1 _gateway

Can you configure that (eg. logging into it w/ yoru browser)?
What does its DNS config look like?
