wlan0 wont come up (iwl4965) [solved]

Hi all, my first attempt on a laptop (X61), trying to get wireless working.

Following the wiki, i got stuck at this point:

# ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device.

here is some more info:

ifconfig wlan0
wlan0     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:1D:E0:A0:F0:F9 
          BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

# lsmod | grep iw

INTERFACES=(eth0 wlan0)

any ideas?

Ok, so what are my options? use another kernel? if so then how?

Use the compat-wireless driver from AUR. I have the same wireless card and it also didn't work with kernel 2.6.25. After I installes the compat-wireless package (I had to use the one from May 26th) it worked flawless!

So you might want to check it out....

Oh god... the stupid RF button was off... thanx all sorry for the trouble.
