Hi I was wondering about the John the Ripper Package

Um.. I'm not going to ask about direct JTR usage on the forum cause that mite be kinda sketchy. What I want to know is are there any bugs or differences in the pacman package vs. the compressed package off the web?

It's not patched if that's what you mean. Anyway, what's sketchy about auditing your box for weak accounts? Security is important. I seem to recall that irongeek has some video tutorials, maybe google would help you with that.

Well.. Seems that it is. My bad. If you want to see what the patches are, use abs and look at the patch files.

Re: Hi I was wondering about the John the Ripper Package

Ok I tryed to process this in my brain I did "man abs" and it came up with some C programming discriptions but nothing about jtr. Now as far as patches go: NTLM that is windows hashes right? I would assume. As far as MySQL or Kerberos, V5, etc do you just download those with pacman or are they on some site?

Re: Hi I was wondering about the John the Ripper Package

well I think I'm going to remove the pacman version and download the tar file. I've ran into some snags running some simple john commands. Unless someone can help me figure this out.
