Just wondering how the archlinux security is out of the box?.
Lets say you have a laptop, instal arch and fire up x and some basic applications! (know the penetration can come from any installed application).
Or having a newly installed arch computer/server facing the internet?
How secure is this, whats ports are opened up by default and so on!

Archlinux does not have any custom configuration most of the time. So you usually get vanilla packages. You need to check what's their policy.

nothing is configured 'out of the box'. Since you have to set it up yourself to get it to do anything, I imagine that qualifies as 'secure'.
You probably meant 'how secure is a base install' though.

arch comes with no open ports by default.

Secure, but functionless
As mntioned, the base install is pretty much very secure, but relatively useless until you start installing things, so it really comes down to what you install, and how you secure it.
