Server Redirection

Mainly for curiosity purposes, I was wondering if anyone knows how to setup or has any experience with something like what sourceforge has when you try and download something, or when you connect to a main IRC network, where it redirects you to a different server based on your location. I tried googling a bit, but I have no idea what to search for. any help?

Re: Server Redirection

To do a SourceForge style redirection, the download script (on the SF servers) checks your IP address and does a GeoIP location of your address, then issues a 302 temporary redirect to the client, which then goes off to the appropriate new URL.
